It’s not about Joe Paterno. He should have, could have, but didn’t & for that, he deserves to be dethroned. He had the opportunity this week to be the stand up man that the PennState proud worship & admire. He should have stepped down on his own & left with some dignity. Instead, he was fired & that was the absolute right action. However, Joe Paterno is ONE piece of this sick & twisted puzzle. The man who brought this whole tragedy to life is walking around State College, out on bail. The media is still focused on Joe Paterno. Joe Paterno’s legacy is over now….he made his bed, he had control over his destiny & will now have the time to reflect on those decisions. I don’t have any sympathy for him nor does my husband (a faithful PSU fan & alum).
It’s time to shift the focus to the others involved; namely, Mr. Sandusky, the 8 victims mentioned in the grand jury report, as well as the many more that have come forward & for the countless others who have yet to reveal their story.
This tragedy is just beginning to unfold & I fear that more will be revealed about cover-ups. It’s disgusting, sad, horrific….unimaginable & disgraceful.
I live in a home where PSU colors & logos are proudly displayed. It is hard to walk by pictures & feel the same way about the chant: We are…. It feels more like: We were….Maybe that will change & maybe it won’t. That is what makes me sad inside.
The end of an era…thank you, Tito, for all that you did & all you gave us.
They call it golf because all of the other four-letter words were taken.

Quintessential Cape Cod. The simple elegance of the Wequassett.

Yes!!!!!
The list has been made & now the items are being checked off one by one. The clothing is put aside & the beach stuff, well it’s been in the car (since June) & well coated with sand. It’s a rat race to clean up the house (hate to leave a dirty house behind), clean out the fridge & stop the mail. All the planning, packing & effort is all so worth it; we are headed on vacation & I won’t stop to complain that I am a one-man packing, organizing & cleaning machine, dammit! I live for this & although my days of doing it almost every weekend are done (for now), I still love the rush, because the reward, the prize, is oh so damn sweet. Beach home sweet beach home, here we come!!!
Seeking any bit of shade possible. Ahhh, the dog days….

See you in 2 weeks! I know you’ll look exactly as you did since our last visit. We’re excited for more fun on your sandy shores…..
